Is Lab Merge available to download?#
Not yet. Lab Merge is in active development and does not currently have a public Google Play listing. Follow the Development Status page for release information.
Is this only the standard 4×4 game?#
No. The current build includes five numbered square layouts, four square-cell silhouette presets, three numbered hexagonal layouts, two beta triangular-cell layouts, and three experimental terrain examples. The standard square board is only one starting point.
What is Threes mode?#
It uses a different combination rule: 1 and 2 make 3, then equal values from 3 upward combine. It also shows a next-tile preview. Read How to Play for a fuller comparison.
What are Fibonacci and Powers of 3 modes?#
Fibonacci merges neighbouring values in the sequence—1 + 1 = 2, 1 + 2 = 3, 2 + 3 = 5—with a goal of 2584. Powers of 3 merges equal pairs—3 + 3 = 9, 9 + 9 = 27—with a goal of 2187. Both use edge-compressing movement like 2048 and allow play to continue after reaching the goal.
Are triangular-cell boards the same as the Triangle layout?#
No. Triangular-cell boards use alternating upward- and downward-pointing cells with six movement directions and are currently enabled through a beta switch. The Triangle silhouette is an ordinary board outline made from square cells and remains available without the beta switch.
Can I preview a move before committing it?#
Yes. Tiles follow the selected direction while you drag, including a preview of possible merges. Return towards the starting point to cancel, or release after the commit distance to make the move. An in-development sensitivity setting controls how deliberate that release must be.
Will changing boards erase my game?#
No. Each mode-and-layout combination keeps a separate saved run and best score. Starting over replaces only the active run for the selected combination after confirmation.
How much can I undo?#
The current build keeps up to 20 recent board states for undo.
Can I make my own board?#
The development build has an experimental editor for square, hexagonal, and triangular-cell layouts, terrain, portals, rocks, mode-aware starting tiles, validation, testing, and JSON copy/import. Its behaviour and data format may change before release.
Does it need an account or internet connection?#
The current preview has no account or online-sync feature. Games, settings, statistics, achievements, and custom layouts are stored on the device. Distribution or optional online features may add platform services later; the privacy page will be updated before public release if that happens.
Will Lab Merge have Premium?#
An extended theme collection is being explored as a planned premium option, but purchasing is not part of the public offering because the app has not launched. Pricing, entitlement, and the final feature boundary are not yet announced.
Which Android versions are planned?#
The current build supports Android 8.0 and later (API 26+). Final Google Play compatibility will be confirmed at release.
Where can I report feedback?#
Use the shared Support page and identify Lab Merge, the development build, the selected rule set, and the board layout. For an editor issue, include a redacted copy of the layout JSON if it is safe to share.
