Customising Lab Merge

·497 words·3 mins

Lab Merge is being designed to adapt to different screens, grips, and playing styles. The settings below describe the current development build and may be refined before release.

Appearance and motion
#

  • Follow the system appearance or choose the available light and dark presentation.
  • Turn tile animations on or off.
  • Choose square or rounded cells, a fine, standard, or bold grid, and a preferred board-number font.
  • Select a home-screen scene: Tile Skyline, Number Orbit, Calm Waves, Constellation, or no scene.
  • Choose how the four game modes appear on the home screen: a game carousel, small scrolling cards, or a full-width hero with page dots.
  • Preview an extended theme collection being developed as a planned premium option.

Board size and position
#

Pinch on the game board to resize it. Touch and hold, then drag, to reposition it for your screen and grip. Board scale and position can also be adjusted through settings.

Game-screen behaviour
#

Choose whether the timer is hidden, compact, or digital. Screen-awake options can follow the system, keep the display awake for five or ten minutes, or keep it awake while playing. Fullscreen mode is also available in the current build.

Undo and restart actions can be positioned to match the way you hold the device.

The in-development Swipe Sensitivity slider controls how far you must drag before releasing to commit the interactive move preview. It ranges from a more sensitive 10% of a cell to a more deliberate 60%, in five-percentage-point steps.

Home-screen layout
#

The mode selector can use one of three presentations without changing the selected mode or any saved game:

  • Game carousel emphasises one mode card while adjacent cards remain partially visible.
  • Small scrolling cards fits several compact choices into a horizontal row.
  • Hero with page dots gives the selected mode a full-width card and uses accessible page indicators for navigation.

Language
#

Lab Merge follows Android’s per-app language setting. The current source includes English, German, and Spanish resources; translation coverage may change during development.

Accessibility note
#

Disabling animation can reduce motion, while board scaling, repositioning, and swipe sensitivity can improve reach and control. The mode selector exposes its choices as selectable controls, and triangular boards expose all six directions to accessibility services. Custom-drawn tiles, charts, gestures, and unusual board shapes still need broader accessibility testing before release. See the shared Accessibility statement and report issues through Support.
