A familiar number puzzle, opened up#
Lab Merge is currently in development and is not yet available on Google Play.
Lab Merge starts with the satisfying slide-and-combine play of 2048, then opens it up with Threes, Fibonacci, and Powers of 3 rules. Play on square, hexagonal, or beta triangular-cell grids, try boards with unusual shapes, and return to a separate saved game for every mode and layout.

Four ways to combine#
- In 2048, equal powers of two merge as tiles slide towards the edge.
- In Threes, 1 and 2 make 3, then equal tiles combine. Tiles move one cell and the next tile is shown before the move.
- In Fibonacci, neighbouring values in the sequence combine, including 1 + 1 = 2, on the way to 2584.
- In Powers of 3, equal pairs triple: 3 + 3 = 9, 9 + 9 = 27, and so on towards 2187.
Every mode works with the available board geometries. Each mode-and-layout combination keeps its own progress and best score, so experimenting does not replace your other games.
Boards beyond the usual square#
The development build includes five numbered square layouts, four square-cell silhouette presets, three numbered hexagonal layouts, two beta triangular-cell layouts, and three experimental terrain boards. Some change the board outline; others introduce ice, paired portals, walls, voids, or rocks.
An experimental board editor goes further: create a square, hexagonal, or triangular-cell layout, paint terrain, choose mode-appropriate starting tiles and spawn rules, validate the design, then test it immediately. Layouts can also be copied or imported as JSON for sharing and iteration.
Made for replaying#
- Resume a saved game for each combination of mode and layout.
- Undo up to 20 recent board states.
- Choose light or dark appearance, animation behaviour, timer style, and screen-awake options.
- Resize and reposition the board with touch gestures.
- Preview a move while dragging, then release to commit it or return towards the starting point to cancel.
- Review scores, moves, play time, board preferences, recent games, and score history.
- Unlock achievements and tile milestones appropriate to each of the four rule sets.
