Budgie data and security

·286 words·2 mins

Your financial records
#

Budgie is a personal finance tracker rather than a bank connection or payment service. You enter transactions or import supported files, and you choose where to keep your backups. Budgie does not initiate payments or access your bank account.

Treat exported files and backups as sensitive financial records. Store them in a private location, use device and cloud-provider protections you trust, and delete temporary copies when they are no longer needed.

Backups are your responsibility
#

Create a backup before importing, restoring, changing devices, or reinstalling. Keep at least one known-good copy separate from the device running Budgie, and test that you can locate the backup before relying on it.

Analytics and third-party services
#

The release build uses Firebase Analytics for screen and feature events and Firebase Crashlytics for error diagnostics. Events can include the selected main currency, but are intended to describe feature use rather than transaction amounts, payees, notes, or a copy of the financial database.

The Budgie Privacy Policy provides the complete current summary. Read it before deciding what diagnostic information to share.

Never include a complete, unredacted financial database in a support request. Use the Support page to prepare a safe description or redacted example.

Delete or stop using your data
#

Before uninstalling, export or back up anything you need. Removing the app does not necessarily remove copies you placed in cloud storage or file-sharing services; manage those copies separately. See Data deletion for local files, app storage, and privacy requests.
